Conservation Breeding Programs

Our mission goes beyond rescuing wildlife; we’re dedicated to reinforcing and re-establishing populations of native Lao species across the country.

Our conservation programs are gaining momentum, with a focus on breeding initiatives designed to help Lao species rebound from the brink of extinction. Currently, we have four active breeding programs, three of which have successfully produced offspring. These programs aim to reinforce existing wild populations or reintroduce animals to areas within their historical range. Nearly all offspring are prepared for release, while a select few remain to sustain the program and support the future of these critically endangered species in Laos.

Our current programs include the following critically endangered species:

Elongated tortoise (Indotestudo elongata)

Keeled box-turtle (Cuora mouhotii)

Yellow-headed temple turtle (Heosemys annandalii)

Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis)
